Roe Visual, Vicon, Unreal Engine used to make AR walls for the new Star Wars: Obi-wan Kenobi Series. Augmented Reality Walls for TV & Movies are revolutionizing film making.

At GDC 2022 I received a demo of two technologies that are being used to film the Kenobi series. The same technology is also being used to film the 4th Season of Star Trek Discovery but was not used for the first 3 seasons. Also Darth Vader will be part of the new series!

To make the tv series look amazing the Obi-wan Series will use Unreal Engine to put a set that was created inside a computer behind live actors during the film making of the new series. The background behind the actors will change depending on the camera position for maximum realism, and more efficient real time film making.

Jason Gabelsberg walks Micah (in the yellow hoodie) through the Motion Capture System created by Academy Award Winner Vicon.

The Disney Go series will also use Roe Visual LED Walls, check out my demo of the AR Wall in action here.
